CD-mp3 format. The prices listed for CDs in the Bookstore and Catalog are for "mp3 format." Mp3 is a condensed data format, allowing us to put more than 30 hours of audio on one CD. Our mp3 formated CDs can be played in desktop computers and mp3-compatible DVD players, and files can be converted and downloaded to portable music players (like iPods). NOTE: Since our mp3 files are rather large (30 minutes instead of the regular 3-5 minutes for a song), they might not work with some mp3 compatible devices. If you are unsure whether your system is compatible, order a complimentary CD-mp3 and try it out. Download CD-mp3. This option allows you to download the mp3 files directly to your computer. However, the download does not take place from the KI USA website. Once KI USA receives your order requesting downloadable mp3 files, we will upload the files to a company called YouSendIt. YouSendIt will e-mail you a link that allows you to download the audio files at your convenience (the folder and files are large, so downloading can take time—we recommend it only for those with broadband connections). The illustrative materials that accompany your CD will be e-mailed to you as an attachment (pdf format). For more details see Tips on Downloading MP3 Files below. CD-audio format. CD-audio is the same format used in music CDs, and will play in all CD players. There is approximately one hour of audio on each CD (18 hours = 18 CDs). CD-audio must be special-ordered. The price of CD-audio is 1 hour = $10, 2 hours = $20, $8/hr for 3+ hours. CD PRICING Mix and Match Pricing. We offer this special pricing on our M- and X- series minitapes to make them more cost-effective. With Mix and Match Pricing, you may order as many minitapes as you wish at one time, up to 35 hours, to be grouped onto a custom-made CD-mp3. We have over 60 minitapes to choose from, each from 1–7 hours in length. Mix and Match prices are as follows:
Correcting Charges for MIX and MATCH CDs: The shopping cart software on our website cannot be programmed to apply this Mix and Match pricing. To accommodate the online software, we have programmed it to charge only $1 for any M- or X-series recording. This is not the actual price. When we receive your order, we will correct your invoice and charge your credit card the actual price. For PayPal customers, we will send you a PayPal "Request for Payment" via e-mail for the difference. For example, if you order M-6, M-8, M-11, and M-24, your online invoice will show only $4 in charges. However, these four recordings together are 9 hours, which is $30 (see pricing above). If you paid by credit card, we will correct your invoice from $4 to $30 for these recordings. If you paid by PayPal, we will send a "Request for Payment" for $26 before fulfilling your order. CONVERSION TIMEFRAME AND QUEUE Conversion Timeframe. All of Kappeler's recorded classes on audiocassette are in the process of being converted to digital format, a process that should be completed in 2011. KI USA is accepting CD-mp3 or CD-audio orders on a first-come, first serve basis. When you order, we will add your request to the "conversion queue" and provide you with an approximate wait-time. Your order will not be charged until it is shipped. To find the CDs available for immediate purchase, please click the CD category in our Bookstore. To see a list of recordings in the conversion queue, see our Coming Soon section on the What's New webpage. SPECIAL CD QUEUE OFFER: Buy any CD, and you can borrow that set of audiocassettes for free (shipping charges apply). For more information, see the CD Queue Special Offer guidelines. TIPS ON DOWNLOADING MP3 FILES HOW TO DOWNLOAD THE MP3 FILES: You will receive an e-mail from YouSendIt that contains a link, allowing you to download the files at your convenience. The folder and mp3 files are large, so downloading can take time—we recommend it only for those with fast, broadband connections. WHAT IF THERE ARE PROBLEMS WITH DOWNLOADING? So far we have had few problems with the downloading process; it is straightforward and easy to use. If you encounter difficulty, contact KI USA. ARE THERE ADDITIONAL COSTS TO DOWNLOAD? You will pay the regular price for the CD, plus a “download fee” of $5 fee per order (regardless of how many CDs you order at once). This fee helps us cover the cost of the download service. Shipping and handling charges will automatically appear on your invoice, but you can ignore them—we will correct the final invoice and charge your credit card the right amount. If you use PayPal, we will issue a refund to your account (if shipping is more than $5), or request additional payment using PayPal’s invoicing system (if shipping is less than $5). ONCE I DOWNLOAD THE MP3 FILES, HOW DO I LISTEN TO THEM? When you "download a CD," you will actually be downloading a folder containing mp3 files, not a CD per se. So, depending on what device you will use to play them, there might be an extra step or two involved. If you are comfortable working with your computer and have burned CDs or loaded your mp3 player before, these extra steps will be no problem. Here are your options: 1) Play the files using your computer's media player software. Just open the downloaded CD folder and double-click on the file that you are interested in listening to. Your computer should automatically begin to play the audio file (Mac users: you will need to import the files into iTunes first). Requirements: You will need speakers or headphones for listening, and your computer must have an audio card and media player software installed (most computers have these). 2) Burn a CD. To do this, you will need to be familiar with using your computer's writable CD drive and software. The folder we send you will contain all the files you need to burn an autoplay CD-mp3 with a playlist (just copy to a CD and burn). Or, if you have the right software, you can use the mp3 files to burn CD-audio format disks for use in your car or other music CD players. Requirements: Writable CD drive on your computer. 3) Play on mp3-compatible portable media players, like iPods or smart phones. Our mp3 files "should" play in mp3 players...but occasionally the files require modification. For example, iPods require that you convert the mp3 files into the iTunes format and put them in your iTunes library before you sync (download) to the device. Other mp3 players might not be able to play the Kappeler mp3 files because of their unusually large size. You might need to experiment a little to find out what works. If you ever have trouble, please contact KI USA and we will help you troubleshoot. If it still doesn't work, we will send you a CD in the mail. Please keep the KI USA informed of your experience with the downloaded files. We welcome and appreciate the feedback.
