Why Support KI USA?
- Love of the Idea. Those who provide support to the KI USA do so out of a deep desire to see Max Kappeler's contribution to the Science of Christian Science recognized and disseminated worldwide. Max Kappeler's friends and students have always been very generous with their financial and practical support, which allowed Kappeler to focus on his research, writing, and teaching. Without this support, Kappeler's work on the Science of Christian Science would not be available today.
- Gifts go directly to fulfilling our mission. The Kappeler Institute USA is committed to continuing Kappeler's legacy well into the future. Our mission is:
- To publish, preserve, and disseminate Max Kappeler's work worldwide.
- To assist students in their study of the Science of Christian Science.
- Donations are tax-deductible. The Kappeler Institute for the Science of Being, USA, is a charitable 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation.
- We cannot do it without you! Your gifts make our mission possible. Through your gifts, you participate with the KI USA in preserving and disseminating Kappeler's work on the Science of Christian Science.

Where do the KI USA's Finances Come From?
- Bequests. The bulk of the finances that the KI USA now operates on has come from generous bequests from longtime Kappeler friends and students. These large gifts provided the basis for the KI USA's ability to serve the field. Careful investing has maintained the legacy of these generous donors. However, these investments are not large enough to continue the activities of the KI USA in perpetuity.
- Project Oriented Gifts. The next largest source of income comes from donors who make project oriented gifts. These are large gifts that provide the funding for special projects (such as book printing, office equipment, and converting Kappeler's audiotapes to digital CD audio). These gifts go a long way to help defray current costs, and allow our investments to continue to mature.
- Cash donations are our next largest contributor. We are grateful for the many students who include us in their planned annual or monthly charitable giving, and those who add a few extra dollars to their invoice when paying for an order.
- Book and Recording Sales account for the smallest (although very important) source of income. As Max Kappeler often said during summer schools, his books and recordings are a "gift" to the field, as the costs associated with providing these materials to students are significantly higher than the income they generate. It is our goal to reach students worldwide, and we will continue our efforts to make Kappeler's work easier to access and more affordable.
How are Financial Gifts Used?
All donations to the KI USA go to either:
- Operating Expenses Account
- Long Term Investments
Which "fund" the donation goes into depends on the size of the donation and the near-term financial needs of KI USA.
How You Can Support KI USA
- Study! The most important work you can do, as an individual, is to culture your own consciousness. Study Science. Allow the Christ-idea to, step-by-step, restructure consciousness through prayerful study of the Bible, Science and Health, and Kappeler's timeless works.
- Support the KI USA financially. Listed below are some of the ways that you can assure that Kappeler's work is available well into the future:
---------------------------
Cash or credit card donations
The easiest way to support KI USA is to send donations at regular intervals. Here are some common donation intervals:
- Annually. Many individuals send end-of-the-year donations to manage their annual giving.
- Monthly. Some individuals send in monthly checks or ask us to debit their credit card for a set amount. This is an easy way to make larger contributions, as these frequent small donations add up by year's end (for example, $25/mo becomes a donation of $300/yr).
- Periodically. Some individuals like to make periodic donations; for instance, when a book comes out, when they receive a newsletter, or they enclose a little "extra" when they pay for an order.
To make a cash or credit card donation:
- On our website (credit card only): Click the Donate Now button (at the top of the Support KI webpage, or in the left sidebar). Or click the donate icon in the Bookstore (in blue banner, top right, next to the Checkout icon). Your donation will be placed in your shopping cart.
- Via mail (personal check or credit card): Print out a Donation Form (pdf, 35 KB) and mail it in. You may select whether you would like to make a one-time donation, or establish a monthly, quarterly, or annual charitable contribution.
