Credit Card Security
We use PayPal as our website shopping cart and merchant service provider. PayPal has significant security measures in place to protect your credit card information. If you have concerns about using this online banking service, here are alternatives:
- You can phone-in or mail your credit card information to KI USA. Credit card payments received in this manner are processed by phone.
- Mail KI USA a personal check after you receive an invoice.
Never fax or e-mail your credit card information! If you order via e-mail or fax, send no payment information—we will send you an invoice. The only “secure” ways to provide credit card numbers to KI USA is by phone, mail, or through our website shopping cart.
Disclaimers
Interpretation of Kappeler’s Work. The Kappeler Institute for the Science of Being is not responsible for personal interpretations of Max Kappeler’s works; neither for an individual’s choices, statements, and actions based on their understanding of his work (for example, in regards to healing, practice, or teaching). In spiritual studies, states and stages of understanding evolve; viewpoints can change.
Kappeler Institute Not an Authority on the Subject of Science. The Kappeler Institute for the Science of Being claims no exclusive rights to the terms “the Science of Christian Science” or “the Science of Being,” and does not present itself as an authority to endorse, control, or regulate works in the subject of Science. The KI USA staff does not comment on the works of other authors or teachers.
Questions about Science. If you have questions about Science, it is best to look for answers in the works of Max Kappeler and Mary Baker Eddy, rather than asking others for their interpretation/understanding of Science. Contact KI USA with your questions, and our staff will recommend where to look in Kappeler’s/MBE’s works for clarification and pondering.
DISCLAIMER:
The information published by the Kappeler Institute for the Science of Being, including but not limited to, text, graphics, images and other material are for informational purposes only. The purpose of these publications is to promote broad understanding and knowledge of various philosophical topics in the light of Christian Science. The wide range of topics covered, which include health subjects, are not intended to be a substitute for professional advice, diagnosis or treatment. Always seek the advice of a physician or other qualified healthcare provider(s) with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition or treatment.
Endorsements
The Kappeler Institute for the Science of Being does not “endorse” other teachers or works, and since the late 1990’s, no other teacher has taught under the auspices of the KI USA. The KI USA’s mission is focused exclusively on promoting and maintaining Max Kappeler’s English language works (NOTE: A limited number of other author’s works are available for sale through KI USA, with Max Kappeler’s permission. The proceeds of sale of these works goes directly to the KI USA).
KI USA always recommends that students study Kappeler’s original work on the Science of Christian Science. Kappeler’s timeless work on this subject is vital to a full understanding of the Science of Christian Science. We also recommend the works that Max Kappeler based his research work on: the Bible, the books by Mary Baker Eddy, the books of John W. Doorly. For more information, see the Disclaimers section.
Other teachers of Science. As all teachers of Science are independent, they are free to teach their understanding of the subject and are free to research and create their own work on the Science of Christian Science. A teacher’s work stands alone as the product of that teacher and must be judged on its own merits. A teacher may certainly base their work in Science on Kappeler’s work, and anyone may use Kappeler’s quotes or diagrams in their own work (with proper citations). For more information, see the Copyrights policy.
Gifts
Upon your request, the Kappeler Institute for the Science of Being will mail your gift of books, recordings, or Introductory Packets to individuals, along with a gift card informing the recipient that you ordered the materials for them. Please make sure the recipient is interested in receiving the materials prior to making the request.
The KI USA limits the number of gifts that any one recipient receives without their direct contact with us. This is to assure that recipients are interested in Kappeler’s work and are getting the assistance they need in their study.
The KI USA will not send materials anonymously.

The Kappeler Institute for the Science of Being endeavors to place only interested individuals on our mailing list. Your name will be placed on our mailing list under the following conditions:
- You have asked KI to add your name to the mailing list.

Orders and Returns
Orders. All of Kappeler’s books and recordings can be ordered directly from Kappeler Institute for the Science of Being via our website, or by phone, fax, or e-mail. Price Corrections. Prices and shipping costs in the KI USA Catalog and website may not reflect the current/correct price. KI USA reserves the right to, at any time, adjust invoices to reflect the current/correct prices of books, recordings, and shipping charges. We will then create a final invoice that reflects the adjusted total. We commonly adjust invoices to reflect actual shipping costs and special offers.
If you ever have questions about an invoice adjustment, please contact KI USA.
Rights Reserved. The Kappeler Institute for the Science of Being reserves the right to refuse to sell or send materials to individuals, groups, or organizations for any reason.

Permission for Use
If you are interested in using/citing more than a few pages of Kappeler’s work, want to charge for a class where Kappeler’s handouts will be used, or have another non-Fair Use idea in mind, we suggest you request written permission to use Kappeler’s English language copyrighted works. Please contact the KI USA directly and inform us of the materials you would like to use, as well as the format and context in which their use will occur. Please allow at least a week to obtain permission.
If you want to use specific diagrams or handouts for distribution, please contact KI USA. We may be able to provide you with diagrams that have been re-mastered into new, attractive prints, with the permission to use these documents and proper citation clearly printed on each page. You can purchase print copies or receive electronic copies for a minimal fee. Please allow at least 2 weeks for processing and delivery.
For more information on this policy, please see Newsletter #13, pp. 8, 10 (pdf) and Teaching Science (on FAQs page).
Practitioners
The Kappeler Institute for the Science of Being does not maintain a list of practitioners or recommend individual practitioners. Max Kappeler always felt his mission was to teach students how to be their own practitioners. Max said:
In my work I teach, through the method of ‘Scientific Obstetrics,’ how to accept the self-demonstrating laws of Life, Truth, and Love into our lives.”
Max also said, in his book The Law of the Self-evolution of Scientific Spiritual Understanding that:
The law of the self-evolution of God is the basis for our individual evolution in understanding and demonstration of the true man, the image and likeness of God. It shows how our understanding evolves spiritually and scientifically through the order of the 7 synonymous terms for God and the structure of the Textbook in order to achieve an understanding of the Science behind Christian Science” (see the Forward in this book).
KI USA encourages students to become their own practitioners through prayer and study of Science. This encouragement is not meant to discourage the use of practitioners, friends, or other types of assistance. The “family law”—universal reflection of ideas (Christianity/Christian Science)—impacts the understanding and consciousness of students so that in their prayers students can follow this law and practice not only for themselves, but for every other idea (see A Study Aid for the Science of Christian Science, p. 55).
See Newsletter 4 for Max Kappeler’s position on healing work and the KI USA. For more information on evolving your spiritual self-practice, see: The Spiritual Breakthrough to the Next Millennium, p. 68.
